Amrut has been especially important to Drammers Club since it launched in 2013, regularly featuring Amrut bottles in events, and having had the pleasure of welcoming Amrut’s Master Distiller Ashok Chokalingam both in person and online. In fact, before Drammers launched its Mumbai chapter in 2018, they traveled to the Amrut distillery in Bengaluru to get Ashok’s blessing before getting started. The truth is they make extraordinary whisky, and no one disputes that they paved the way for world whisky as a category generally: a tag-team effort of Ashok breaking down prejudices among the whisky gate-keepers in Europe, paired with the efforts of Raj and the team at Glass Revolution Imports to get whisky fans in the US to stand up and pay attention. Simply put, Amrut is the game-changer. And they’ve got the whisky to stand up to any skeptics. And then there’s this exceptional single barrel pick. It was inspired by a single barrel pick that Amrut had done for the great La Maison du Whisky shop in Paris, which was also matured in an ex-rye cask.
