FOUR ROSES - SMALL BATCH BOURBON
Kentucky straight bourbon distilled at the Four Roses Distillery, aged 6-7 years. Four Roses distills 10 different recipes (using two different mashbills and 5 different proprietary yeast strains). It identifies which recipe(s) is has used for a particular bourbon using the codes you can see below, for example OBSK. The first and third letters do not change. The 2nd letter indicates whether it is a “B” high-rye mashbill (60% corn, 35% rye, 5% malted barley) or an “E” lower-rye mashbill (75% corn, 20% rye, 5% malted barley). The final letter indicates which yeast strain was used in the recipe, each of which has a distinct flavor difference: “V” (delicate fruit), “K” (slight spice), “O” (rich fruit), “Q” (floral essence), or “F” (herbal notes). Their Small Batch Bourbon is created from a combination of these recipes as noted below.
