The Nectar 16yo
Aged in Bourbon casks and then finished in fortified white wine casks. This is part of a rapid series of expressions that Glenmorangie has reinvented in 2024-2025 by (among other things) increasing the age statement. For example the Original increased from a 10yo to a 12yo, and Lasanta increased from a 12yo to a 15yo). Supposedly, part of the motivation for the change from Nectar D’Or non-age-statement (reportedly a 12yo) to this. new The Nectar at 16yo was driven by the lack of access to a sufficient supply of Sauternes casks — something like they were getting nearly all of the casks out of the Sauternes region, and it still wasn’t enough, so they solved the problem by reinventing the expressoin to include other sweet white wines. The result, honestly, is spectacular.

From the brand: Inspired by his memory of entering a French pastry shop, Dr Bill Lumsden first brought a whisky of dessert-like complexity to life in Glenmorangie The Nectar D’Or. Now, he has taken its swirls of sweet scents and spice to new heights of deliciousness, in our award-winning Glenmorangie The Nectar. Aged longer, for 16 years, in an enhanced combination of bourbon and sweet white wine casks, this new whisky is even more sumptuous and complex. For extra depth and creaminess, silky Glenmorangie aged for 14 years in bourbon casks was selected. The whisky was then finished for two more years in a new combination of sweet white wine casks. Sauternes and Monbazillac casks from France bring sumptuous notes of pastry, brioche, meringue and baked apples. Moscatel casks from Spain offer sweet, syrupy dessert-like notes. And Tokaji casks from Hungary, add white chocolate, almond and honeycomb flavours to their creation.
