LEOPOLD BROS. - Leopold’s Summer Gin

The 2024 Edition of Leopold Bros Summer Gin relies on the same core ingredients, this time from the 2023 harvest: juniper berries, blood oranges, lemon myrtle, and the all-important Immortelle flower. Known scientifically as helichrysum italicum (a contraction of two Greek words: helios, meaning “sun” and chrysos, meaning“gold), Immortelle flower represents the golden sun of Italy and is widespread across the Mediterranean. Revered for its everlasting essence, the glorious and fragile yellow flower has been utilized throughout history for its fragrance, flavoring, and its beauty, even woven into the laurel crown worn by the mighty Apollo. The aromas of dried Immortelle flower are both rich and complex, layered with fruity and floral notes that move between citrus and stone fruit, in addition to the heady blossom. Distilled individually in our housemade grain neutral spirit, the Immortelle flower distillate by itself is a profound and interesting spirit. Yet, when blended with individual distillations of blood orange, juniper, and lemon myrtle, its best character comes forward. The 2024 Edition of Summer gin smells and tastes like a walk through a blossoming citrus orchard on a warm afternoon. It’s perfect for late evening gin and tonics, and it sings in a summer Martini with a citrus garnish.
