NEW RIFF - Malted Rye, Sherry Finish, Barrel Proof
From the Distillery: We like to think of our 100% Malted Rye Whiskey as malt whiskey first, and a rye whiskey second. Given that malty identity, it seemed natural to give it a sherry cask finish, as often used for malt whiskeys around the world. Handcrafted Spanish oloroso and pedro ximenez sherry casks were judiciously applied. The result is a rather unique whiskey in the pantheon of sherry cask aging. The sherry cask element is forward and deeply pitched, yet beautifully leavened by the piquant garins, which burst into the finish like a sunrise. It takes an already girthy rye and amplifies the body and mouthfeel. In short, our Malted Rye has indeed taken sherry cask aging very well in hand–and arguably proved itself as a malt whiskey of the world.
